Too many choices?
Music is an ocean. We hope these lists give you some inspiration, but if you’re drowning in options, never fear. Here are our top tips for selecting your wedding songs.
Start with your memories
Is there a song or piece of music that’s connected to a memory together? Maybe it was playing on the day you met. Maybe it’s your favourite song to sing or dance together to. If there’s a piece of music that symbolizes a pivotal moment in your journey, that could be a winning choice.
Stick to what you like
Do you have any music tastes in common? If so, be proud of them and put them up front. It’s a day for you, and while many couples play it safe so as not to upset an uncle or an in-law, when you look back you’ll be glad to have expressed your identity.
Think about the lyrics
It could be that the above is enough to get you on your way, but if you’re still stuck, take some of your favourite songs and read the lyrics. Do any of them say what you want the world to know about you?
Make a list
If there’s still too many choices, it can be helpful to get all your thoughts out of your head in a nice list. Write down your top choices together and give one a mark out of five for how much you want it on your wedding day. If either of you give a song a low score, cross it out! The leading choices should rise to the surface.
Don’t overthink it
Music is important but, at the end of the day, your choice of song isn’t going to make or break your relationship. If you still can’t decide, don’t sweat it! So long as you have some options that are good enough for you, you can absolutely pick one at random. Roll a dice, don’t worry about it and enjoy your day.
